LPA Now Tropical Depression 'Kabayan,' signal no. 1 up in 5 areas
MANILA - The low pressure area (LPA) spotted east of Visayas has intensified into tropical depression "Kabayan," state weather bureau PAGASA said Thursday.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said "Kabayan" was last seen 75 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.
The tropical depression is packing maximum winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center. It is expected to move west northwest at 19 kph.
Signal No. 1 has been raised over Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Aurora and Northern Quezon including Polillo Island.
Moderate to occasionally heavy rains and isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over Bicol region, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon , Northern Palawan and Panay Island.
Kabayan is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility by Monday.
