The broad Tropical Disturbance 91W (LPA) over the Caroline Islands has started to consolidate and strengthen as it approaches the Northern Mariana Islands...most likely to become a Tropical Depression or Tropical Storm (TS) within the next 06 to 24 hours. Based on the initial Global Dynamic Forecast Models (GDFM), 91W is most likely to become a TS or Typhoon on Wednesday, Oct 14 and shall enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning (Oct 15).
As of 11:00 PM PhT (15:00 GMT) today, Monday, October 12, 2015, the center of the LPA was located some 136 km East-Southeast of Saipan, CNMI [14.8N 146.9E]...with maximum sustained winds of 35 kph near the center and gustiness up to 45 kph. It was moving West-Northwest at 28 kph towards the Northern Mariana Islands.
LPA 91W is still too far away to directly affect any part of the Philippines.
