Tropical Storm KOPPU (24W) upgraded from Tropical Depression - has accelerated westward...approaching the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). "Koppu" is the Japanese word for cup or crater. Based on the latest Global Dynamic Forecast Models (GDFM), KOPPU is most likely to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday noon or afternoon (Oct 14).
As of 11:00 PM PhT (15:00 GMT) today, Tuesday, October 13, 2015, the center of TS KOPPU was located some 1,732 km East of Aurora, Philippines [15.7N 138.3E]...with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness up to 85 kph. It was moving Westerly at 22 kph towards the Philippine Sea.
TS KOPPU is still far away to directly affect any part of the Philippines.
