NAIA Finally Out of World’s 10 Worst Airport
MANILA, Philippines – The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has finally shed its title as the world’s worst airport after it was no longer included in The Guide to Sleeping in Airport’s top ten list for 2015.
However, NAIA remains the 8th worst airport in Asia along with other gateways in Nepal, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Pakistan, India and China.
After languishing at the cellar for three consecutive years since 2011 and ranking 4th in 2014, NAIA was taken over by Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal as the world’s worst airport in the travel website latest list.
The website credited the ongoing rehabilitation works in NAIA Terminal 1 that helped to decongest the airport, as well as the introduction of Wings Transit Lounge in Terminal 3 which also helped making things more comfortable for travelers, albeit for a price, as the factors that contribute to its rise in the ranking.
However, the website said there is still room for improvement especially after the ceilings in Terminal 1 leaked and the floors at Terminal 2 collapsed early last month.
“Passengers remain annoyed by the poor customer service, the long queues, the sub-par food selection, the lack of restrooms and the crowded seating areas,” it said.
“There is definitely a long way to go but we’re thrilled to see improvements come along bit by bit,” the website added.
