Tropical Depression ONYOK continues to move in a generally westerly track over the eastern part of the South Philippine Sea...struggling to retain its strength. Potential areas that will be affected by ONYOK are the eastern provinces of Mindanao where moderate to heavy rains are expected beginning Friday morning (Dec 18).
Residents and visitors along Eastern Mindanao and Eastern Visayas should closely monitor the development of TD ONYOK (29W).

TD ONYOK is expected to continue moving in a generally westerly track with slightly increase of its forward speed during the next 24 hours. It is likely to accelerate while traversing Mindanao on the remainder of the outlook period. On the forecast track, ONYOK shall be nearing the eastern coasts of Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental on Friday afternoon (Dec 18)...making landfall by evening...and shall move across Mindanao through Saturday morning (Dec 19).
TD ONYOK is forecast to gain strength within the next 12 to 24 hours and shall weaken after making landfall over Eastern Mindanao. It will dissipate into an area of Low Pressure while crossing the mountain ranges of Central Mindanao.
